ABOUT US

We are a family run showjumping yard in North Staffordshire.

Run by Showjumping rider Alexandra Bratt.

Competing in France 2008 on home produced Grade A mare Fantasie

“I completed my degree in 2005 before concentrating on my passion for showjumping. During the 2005 season I was based at Lenamore Stables, County Donegal, Ireland. Whilst there I was the sole rider for the team of showjumping horses that ranged from 3 yr olds being backed to 8 yr olds competing at 1.35m. I qualified the 5 yr old Lenamore Loftie (a giant at 18.1.hh) for the prestigious Millstreet Championship Show and had great fun with the more experienced Lenamore Molly Maguire, Lenamore Santiago and Lenamore Dellboy to name a few. I was also involved with taking young horses to the sales at Cavan Equestrian centre where I presented them in the ring for prospective purchasers to view.

I have trained with many top riders in England and worked as sole rider for a yard in Staffordshire riding for my then sponsors, the Pointon family, for almost 2 years, producing young horses and competing at International level on the older horses.

Up to Date, one of the horses that I rode for the Pointon family, I had this horse from a 5 year old jumping Discovery classes until he was 7 and had competed at his first International. He is pictured here completing a double clear at the 2007 Scope Festival.

I left Roundmeadows Stables, owned by the Pointon family in April 2008. During the Summer season 2008 I worked as a rider for ‘chloe eventing’ schooling event horses owned by event rider Chloe Hall, for showjumping. While completing this role I also continued to build my own team of promising young showjumpers who at this time included home produced Grade A mare ‘Fantasie’, talented 6 year olds ‘Varadox’ and ‘Vance R’, and the stunning grey 7 yr old ‘Troubadour’.

In 2009 I then decided to set up independently and started ‘Elite Sport Horses’ from my home yard where we have several talented prospects.

I have produced several horses that have gone on to compete at International level. One of the first horses that I rode, Fantasie, I still have now. We purchased her as a 3 year old from her breeder and she went on to win over 6,000 and was placed at every International show that she attended, finishing 2nd and 3rd at her International debut at Dunkerque CSI in 2006. Fantasie has now retired to stud and we are eagerly awaiting her first foal, due July 2010.

I have at present 3 horses that I believe will be able to compete at International level in time and am excited about their future prospects. I have been producing ‘Varadox’ for 2 years now. She is a 7yr old 17.hh bay mare by Concorde and is currently jumping 1.30/1.35m level and shall soon progress to 1.40m. I also have two new acquisitions in Didi vd Roshoeve and Artifleur Z whom I have chosen with a view to producing to Grand Prix level.

With these three horses as the backbone to my string, I hope to produce a team of horses that are capable of being competitve in Grand Prix classes and at International level. Our horses are being carefully produced with a view to 2010 and beyond. For more information on my showjumping team please follow this link;showjumping horses.

Artifleur Z

In 2008 I began my breeding programme as I have ambitions to progress through the levels of the sport and top quality young horses are inevitably very expensive! (and out of my price range!). I am hoping that by using well bred, talented Grade A mares with good temperaments and conformation, to be able to breed the stars of the future that will help Elite Sport Horses to become established and compete at high level competitions for many years to come. One of our foundation broodmares is Fantasie, herself an International Grade A. Another of our foundation mares, Castle Anna competed at International Grand Prix level. For more information on my broodmares please follow this link:broodmares

The Beautiful Castle Anna! International Grand Prix mare, now one of our foundation broodmares.

This is a new business venture and is still becoming established but by carefully selecting our young horses, who show the potential to go a long way, we are hopeful to achieve our ambitions. The Breeding programme will hopefully continue to increase as this will be an influential part in our chance of success.

In addition to our team of jumping horses and our breeding programme I also produce horses for sale as, sadly, selling some of the talented young horses that pass through our stables is necessary to our progress! This enables me to compete at shows around the country, and once the new team of horses are ready, to travel overseas to compete. Some of the horses that have been produced and sold can be seen here; horses sold. Probably the most notable being ‘Troubadour’ who was sold in 2009 to Cheshire based International rider Corinne Collins. This horse had already started to compete at 1.40m level and was showing a true talent. He is continuing his rise up the ladder in his new home and will be one to watch over the coming years. Another horse that was showing Grand Prix potential was ‘Vance R’ a talented 7yr old that I had been producing for 2 years.

I am looking forward to the challenge of the next few years and hope to build up a team of horses capable of competing at shows around Europe and in the UK. One of my greatest ambitions (in a very long list!) is to win at Grand Prix level on a home bred horse. At present, perhaps the most exciting prospect is Elite Sport Arianna who at 2 months old happily clears 1.30m soaring confidently over the post and rail fence around her field!!! Her mother Castle Anna competed upto 1.60m level and her father is the Grand Prix stallion ‘It’s the Business’ so fingers crossed.”
